When you observe fluctuating rpms;  1) high rpms on road and low rpms in the snow, or
2) Correct rpms for moments at full throttle but watch the rpms diminish, then ( and i know it is not pleasant to measure ) you must check all bushings to see if they are near or at the wear limit.  If the bushings are heading towards the wear limit then the clutch fitness itself can be causing the rpm fluctuation when all the engine management is fine and working well.

Secondary Rollers
No need to buy aftermarket secondary, these rollers are a better secondary clutch all wrapped up in two little rollers.
Clutch roller service life dramatically increased.
Longer belt life.
Rollers are made from hi-tech extremely durable material
Highly resistant to heat and distortion.
No more flat spots or skidding.
Clutching and tuning made easier due to consistent action.
Quicker backshift gives better throttle response.

I personally endorse these rollers especially in any 2008 trail or mountain model.

Swivel Washers

Dont forget to double check on the swivel washers that go on either end of the secondary spring.  One has the secondary out and a swivel will fall on the floor or just disappear.  Confirm there are two washers on either end of the spring, have no metal on metal.

The Floating secondary QRS

One of the best modifications i've ever used for alignment issues that cause torn out chords on belts.

In an email to DooDoctor;  I ran the whitefish whip this weekend with the floater secondary and I must say am impressed with the lower temperatures my clutches have now.

I even chose on-purpose an old red letter dayco made 166 skidoo belt that had a chord popping out and I was determined to blow that belt up.
The whitefish river is also called “puke river” because of the race called “whitefish whip” to which is 24 miles one way of that gruelling corner to corner running and bump after bump after bump.  Shocks are steaming hot and fade on this race.  Your arms burn, your hands go numb, have to be open faced to breath air, hard to hang on to the sled for most of the race in the corners.
With an 08/800/1.25" w/studs, lots of studs, you can get to 90mph in a few spots then have to death brake, then go through the corner and full throttle again.
I tell you if you did this river 2 times/ week you would be in as good of shape as a moto-x racer.
When you are done this race, a good chance you will take off your helmet and pass out or throw up, many riders do, specially the smokers who race it. Haha
The clutch temperatures were certainly down, I would be able to hold my hand on the clutches even the primary for about 2 seconds……pretty impressed for a worn belt.

Commentary;  I have many customers who run this floating secondary and can run a 377 in the mountains for a whole season.

Pulley alignment
REV XP chassis types please note the following specifications.
"Z" Distance 21.0mm .827 in.
"X" Offset 37.1 +- 0.5mm 1.461 +- .020 in
"X-Y" Difference 1.62mm 0.064 in.
Please note: Although these are the target specifications, pulley alignment is not adjustable. These dimensions are for reference only.

Alignment changes after Break-in
Alignment changes after Break-in, Alignment changes after Break-in, Alignment changes after Break-in - The Y-X dimension will change after break in.
For proper alignment procedure refer to skidoo bulletin 2009-12.

The primary clutch fixed sheave crankshaft taper may not be pressed far enough into the clutch and can give a further-away relationship to the engine, which will change the X dimension and alignment.  ( like my personal 08 xp has this problem and solved with doodoctor floating secondary , my alignment was so bad it was 1.2mm out even after full shim kit behind the secondary shaft jackshaft bearing )  If that measurement is in question then borrow or get another tra-7 primary clutch and put it on the engine to verify this measurement to eliminate the possibility of such an out of place event as I have experienced.

The engine back stop can move out over a 1/4 inch.  The clutch alignment can be good at rest however under full load the torque would twist the engine out of parallel.
